Reuniting with Old Friend

My friend H. came to visit LA with her son and husband. We spent the afternoon with them in Santa Monica -- walking down and lunching at the Promenade, and spending time at the beach.

I met H. when we both were studying law in Japan. We both would get lots of attention because we look so decidedly non-Japanese. H. is German but lives in Tennessee now with her family. I hadn't seen her since January 2000 when I went to visit her in Germany, so it was really wonderful to catch up. I brought P, I, and T, so we both appreciated meeting each other's new families. Life has certainly changed for both of us since we met up right after that millenial new year.
