Okay in the End

“Everything will be okay in the end. And if it isn’t okay, it isn’t the end.”
- a wise 16-year old

P. took me to Cobras y Matadors last night. It was delicious as always. The skirt steak and the baked goat cheese were my favorite. The bacon wrapped prawns were also delish. Yum, I'm hungry.

Afterwards, we went to the Knitting Factory to meet Trey and Nico to see the Skatellites. It was a great show and I had fun dancing with P. Life is good.

I'm off to NYC tonight for the weekend. No rest for this jet-setter. ;)

Pics from the Bachelorette Party

Bachelorette Kelli after inadvertently completing one of her tasks.

Kelli and I by the Lazy River at Mandalay Bay. I felt like I needed a feather boa to maintain the "bachelorette party" atmosphere at the pool.

Bachelorette Party

"Here's to alcohol: the cause of, and answer to, all of life's problems."
Homer Simpson

Last weekend I went to Vegas for Kelli's bachelorette party. We were sufficiently raucus. It was a good time. I was more sedate than usual, though I did dance on stage in a club, prance around the Mandalay Bay pool area in my skimpy bikini, sport a pink feather boa, drink from morning until morning, and laugh my buns off. Good times were had by all. I forgot my camera at home, but will post pics tomorrow.

P., fun and interesting new man in my life, came to pick me up from the airport. I brought him to my house where Sean was having his b-day barbecue. P. was a doll. He didn't know what he was getting into when he arrived at my house (met my sister, Sean, Sean's entire family, my law school friends, Trey, and assorted other acquaintances). He was sweet as pie and ever funny. I think he was a hit. At least as far as I'm concerned, he knocked it out of the ball park.

Boondoggles

"Each day provides its own gifts."
-Martial, Roman Poet

On Monday I got tickets from my law firm to go to the Dodgers Game. I took Jojo because she and I love to go see baseball games. We often have no idea what's going on (we cheered for the wrong team for half an inning), but we do so enjoy the Dodger Dogs, garlic fries, and beers to be had. This was an incredibly short game... lasted under 2 hours, so we didn't really have time to hit into the Cracker Jacks or the kettle corn. We were nevertheless able to really appreciate the lovely late spring night under the stars.

This evening I'm partaking in another boondoggle -- our buddy spa budget. I'm getting a wonderful massage courtesy of my generous employer. Life is good!

On another note, I wanted to let you all know about my pro bono client: Fabrice Noel . His employer, the Colorado Rapids, have set up a fund to help his family get to the United States. (Click on the link for more details) If you're able/willing to help, it would be very appreciated.

I'm Official

"Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvelous." - Bill Moyers

I am an official artist! I have my own page on the Fusionart website. Check out my site. It feels good! :)

In other news, I have been thinking about how I'm going to accomplish my goal of becoming an Oprah-like tv show host. I would love a show that's Oprah-meets-the-Travel/Style Channels. So, as if in an answer to my prayer, I am stopped by a woman as I enter the cafe to buy my morning oatmeal. She tells me that I have a great look and could be on tv, in commercials, in print. She's a talent scout or agent. She gave me her card and took my information and said I'd be hearing from her next week. We'll see what happens, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Poem of the Day

I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one
and the scorned one.
I am the whore, and the
holy one. I am the wife
and the virgin.
I am the mother and the
daughter....I am she
whose wedding is great,
and I have not taken a
husband....I am
knowledge, and ignorance.

THUNDER, PERFECT MIND, Gnostic poem, 100 A.D.

What I Am Doing

"I have learned, as a rule of thumb, never to ask whether you can do something. Say, instead, that you are doing it. Then fasten your seat belt. The most remarkable things follow."
Julia Cameron

I am doing a half-ironman triathlon on May 6.
I am managing, fundraising for, and accomplishing the renovation of the UCLA NPI's residents' offices.
I am writing a guide book on Buenos Aires.
I am running a successful online jewelry business .
I am officiating two weddings in the next year.
I am taking 6 weeks of vacation this year.
I am buying more income property.
I am getting an SUV (so that I can tool around in Charlie, but lug around my bike, dog, furniture, and other such things in the SUV).
I am moving into a bigger office next week.
I am getting a raise.
I am going to get myself a delicious lunch right now.

Val Kilmer

Can anyone out there get me access to Val Kilmer. I was challenged by a friend to arrange an introduction between them. I hate to turn down a challenge. Any ideas people on how this can be arranged? We're women with a mission, so it shall be done. Oh yes, it shall be done.
